You Won't Catch Me PROMOTING WebProsperity!

My phone is ringing off the hook and my inbox is plugged with IDENTICAL emails promoting WebProsperity.

How did there get to be so many people who just don't understand network marketing?

And here's why I wouldn't even consider touching WebProsperity with a 10 foot pole--at least not until the vultures have backed off.

Folks, please listen here. If you're even contemplating WebProsperity, NEVER pitch anyone on a network marketing opportunity without first establishing a relationship. After all these years, it's still a SECRET, apparently. People buy from people they TRUST.

Ask yourself this: would you buy from someone who chooses not to compose their own emails, assuming you knew about it? How worthy is that person of your money?

MLM already has a bad name-what we need is more professionalism, not less.

All this said, my impression is that WebProsperity has some good products and probably even has a decent compensation plan. But until the marketing cleans up and airs out for a while, my suggestion is to maintain your reputation and stay clear.

Unless you're JUST looking at this as a customer. If that's you, dive in. But please find someone who writes their own email first...

This sleek unit has velvety curves, which are smooth to the touch, and fit within nearly any setting. Not only does the Signature Mini have a visual appeal, but it also provides you with local and online backups of your data.

The size of the Signature Mini (320GB, red) is very compact at 4.9 inches x 3.1 inches x 0.7 inches - in diameter - and it only weighs 5.7 ounces. The size, along with the velvet material surrounding the unit, makes this unit easy to grip and maneuver. The sticker price, on the Signature Mini (320GB, red), is much less than that of a Ferrari, usually found at around $199.99. The overall read / write speed, on this unit, is about average - in comparison with other USB external drives that is, (many external drives now offer FireWire connectivity, which has a much faster rate of read / write).

A USB 2.0 "Y" cable is all that this unit needs for power - on most computers. You can typically use one of the USB connectors, for sufficient power; however, both cables could be needed at different times (all dependent on the PC and the amount of data being transferred).

Local backup procedures are nearly seamless with the Signature Mini (320GB, red). You can, easily, set up processes that will run automatically, in the background, and take up very little resources from your PC. Additionally, users can backup up to 2GB, for free, online. (Extra storage is available, online, for a monthly fee of 4.95 a month.) You can burn, all of your backups, to CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray discs, because the Signature Mini (320GB, red) has integrated read / write technology - also allowing users to create audio and video CD's and DVD's.) This device comes with software called Joggle?. Joggle allows users to share their files, in addition to organizing and tracking. Additionally, SimpleTech has put a 3-year warranty on the Signature Mini (320GB, red).

SimpleTechs Signature Mini (320GB, red) is compatible with Windows and MAC; however, MAC users will need to reformat the drive prior to using it. The option to reformat the drive to FAT, which will allow for the connectivity of both Windows and MAC, is also available.

Older computers, with USB 1.1, will not provide power to the Signature Mini, and some laptops do not provide enough power. When using this device on older computers, and some laptops, you will need to purchase an AC adapter (remember, the unit does not come with one). Additionally, while one USB 2.0 connection is typically sufficient, there are times you will need to plug in both of the connectors from your "Y" cable.

SimpleTech included the readability of many different file types, on the Signature Mini (320GB, red). However, there are many newer file types, that may not be so common yet, that are not recognizable. To get around this you will need to add these file types to the Signature Mini prior to moving the files onto the device.

This type of backup device is great for those who do extensive travel or are trying to keep a certain appearance around their home or office. It is overall performance, and functionality, is in comparison with others, but is not rated high on the list. Overall, the Signature Mini (320GB, red) is an average unit with a handsome exterior.

A Drive with Massive Storage - OWC Mercury On-The-Go (500GB)

External storage devices are becoming more and more popular. With this, manufacturers are constantly attempting to make theirs better than those of their competitors. OWC has managed to do just this, offering one of the largest external storage devices around with the latest release of the Mercury On-The-Go (500GB).

Hitachis TravelStar 5k400 hard drive ensures that the Mercury On-The-Go 500GB, 5400RPM runs at optimal speeds, offering performance like no other. This unit has multiple connectivity ports: FireWire 400, FireWire 800, and a mini USB 2.0 port - all of which is available from the back end of the device. Read / write speeds are phenomenal, on this unit, and typically higher than that of its competitors. Users will notice this difference regardless of the connection type that they are using. There is; however, very little difference, in read / write performance, between the FireWire 800 and FireWire 400 ports.

These ports, both FireWire ports and the USB port, allow consumers to connect - immediately - with any plug-n-play device that also allows for FireWire and USB connectivity. This functionality is beyond useful for those who need to transfer (for backup purposes of just because) their files, from these devices, from wherever they are located.

The Mercury On-The-Go can by be used by just about anyone, as long as you have a computer with either an Apple or a Windows operating system. The device is delivered unformatted, giving you the ability to format the drive as you see fit. The one, and only, downfall to the formatting, is that you cannot format the drive as FAT32, meaning you will not be able to use the drive on both an Apple and Windows machine.

Upon opening the box you will find, not only your standard AC adapter and cables, but backup software as well. Backup software is provided for both MAC and Windows machines: NovaStore NovaBackup for Windows, and Prosoft Data Backup for MACs.

The unit, as mentioned, does come with an AC adapter, although you typically will not need to use it. The power provided through your computers' USB and FireWire ports is typically sufficient for the external device. (Keep in mind this means a USB port of 2.0, not USB 1.1 ports.)

OWC encased this drive with a clear hard plastic. This allows consumers to visually experience the inner workings of the device, which is needed considering that the only LED light, on the unit, is on the hard drive itself.

This compact unit, while not as compact as others on the market, is around 5.5 inches x 3 inches x 1 inch. Regardless of the fact that this device is just a bit larger than others, the storage capacity, and performance, help consumers to overlook the size.

Consumers can also take advantage of a total of three years worth of warranty on the Mercury On-The-Go, with a 1-year warranty, on the device itself, and a 2-year warranty on the TravelStar5K500.

This unit typically runs for around $359.99, which is a little high for an external storage device. However, OWC counteracted the effect of a high sticker price, with the massive storage capacity and the excessively fast read / write performance. The Mercury On-The-Go is one of those units that is worth a couple extra dollars.

The World's Most Unusual Therapist

Two years ago, I heard about a therapist in Hawaii who cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients--without ever seeing any of them. The psychologist would study an inmate's chart and then look within himself to see how he created that person's illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved.

When I first heard this story, I thought it was an urban legend. How could anyone heal anyone else by healing himself? How could even the best self-improvement master cure the criminally insane?

It didn't make any sense. It wasn't logical, so I dismissed the story.

However, I heard it again a year later. I heard that the therapist had used a Hawaiian healing process called ho 'oponopono. I had never heard of it, yet I couldn't let it leave my mind. If the story was at all true, I had to know more.

I had always understood "total responsibility" to mean that I am responsible for what I think and do. Beyond that, it's out of my hands. I think that most people think of total responsibility that way. We're responsible for what we do, not what anyone else does. The Hawaiian therapist who healed those mentally ill people would teach me an advanced new perspective about total responsibility.

His name is Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len. We probably spent an hour talking on our first phone call. I asked him to tell me the complete story of his work as a therapist. He explained that he worked at Hawaii State Hospital for four years. That ward where they kept the criminally insane was dangerous. Psychologists quit on a monthly basis. The staff called in sick a lot or simply quit. People would walk through that ward with their backs against the wall, afraid of being attacked by patients. It was not a pleasant place to live, work, or visit.

Dr. Len told me that he never saw patients. He agreed to have an office and to review their files. While he looked at those files, he would work on himself. As he worked on himself, patients began to heal.

"After a few months, patients that had to be shackled were being allowed to walk freely," he told me. "Others who had to be heavily medicated were getting off their medications. And those who had no chance of ever being released were being freed."

I was in awe.

"Not only that," he went on, "but the staff began to enjoy coming to work. Absenteeism and turnover disappeared. We ended up with more staff than we needed because patients were being released, and all the staff was showing up to work. Today, that ward is closed."

This is where I had to ask the million dollar question: "What were you doing within yourself that caused those people to change?"

"I was simply healing the part of me that created them," he said.

I didn't understand.

Dr. Len explained that total responsibility for your life means that everything in your life - simply because it is in your life--is your responsibility. In a literal sense the entire world is your creation.

Whew. This is tough to swallow. Being responsible for what I say or do is one thing. Being responsible for what everyone in my life says or does is quite another. Yet, the truth is this: if you take complete responsibility for your life, then everything you see, hear, taste, touch, or in any way experience is your responsibility because it is in your life.

This means that terrorist activity, the president, the economy--anything you experience and don't like--is up for you to heal. They don't exist, in a manner of speaking, except as projections from inside you. The problem isn't with them, it's with you, and to change them, you have to change you.

I know this is tough to grasp, let alone accept or actually live. Blame is far easier than total responsibility, but as I spoke with Dr. Len, I began to realize that healing for him and in ho 'oponopono means loving yourself. If you want to improve your life, you have to heal your life. If you want to cure anyone--even a mentally ill criminal--you do it by healing you.

I asked Dr. Len how he went about healing himself. What was he doing, exactly, when he looked at those patients' files?

"I just kept saying, 'I'm sorry' and 'I love you' over and over again," he explained.

That's it?

That's it.

Turns out that loving yourself is the greatest way to improve yourself, and as you improve yourself, your improve your world. Let me give you a quick example of how this works: one day, someone sent me an email that upset me. In the past I would have handled it by working on my emotional hot buttons or by trying to reason with the person who sent the nasty message. This time, I decided to try Dr. Len's method. I kept silently saying, "I'm sorry" and "I love you," I didn't say it to anyone in particular. I was simply evoking the spirit of love to heal within me what was creating the outer circumstance.

Within an hour I got an e-mail from the same person. He apologized for his previous message. Keep in mind that I didn't take any outward action to get that apology. I didn't even write him back. Yet, by saying "I love you," I somehow healed within me what was creating him.

I later attended a ho 'oponopono workshop run by Dr. Len. He's now 70 years old, considered a grandfatherly shaman, and is somewhat reclusive. He praised my book, The Attractor Factor. He told me that as I improve myself, my book's vibration will raise, and everyone will feel it when they read it. In short, as I improve, my readers will improve.

"What about the books that are already sold and out there?" I asked.

"They aren't out there," he explained, once again blowing my mind with his mystic wisdom. "They are still in you."

In short, there is no out there.

It would take a whole book to explain this advanced technique with the depth it deserves. Suffice it to say that whenever you want to improve anything in your life, there's only one place to look: inside you.

Ecommerce retailers set to prosper during a recession

This positive thought may be the result of a change within shopper behaviours, resulting from the recent economic difficulty: people turn to the internet for their shopping needs.

PriceGrabber.com(R) in a study on the impact of a tough economy on holiday shopping in its latest Consumer Behaviour Report shows that sixty-one percent of consumers expect to make a concerted effort to cut back this holiday season. Ninety-seven percent of survey respondents expect to do some purchasing online this holiday season. Fifty-five percent plans to purchase more than half of their holiday gifts online this year, a 10 percent increase from last year. Thirty-seven percent say that online shopping appeals to them because it is "easier to compare products and find the lowest price." Twenty-four percent favour the "convenience of shopping anytime and anywhere."

Previous results from Forrester Research show that 81 percent of online retailers surveyed states that their e-commerce businesses were profitable in 2007. Because of this, the internet marketing bug seems to be spreading to more businesses. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) survey, 70.3 per cent of businesses today have a website.

Malcolm Pinkerton, Verdict's senior retail analyst states "As the cost of broadband falls, consumers become more accustomed to internet shopping and retailers continue to enhance their online propositions. This channel will find itself extremely well placed to capitalize on falling consumer confidence and lower levels of disposable income currently [affecting] the retail market."

The Cure for Despair

During dinner the other night, one of the people in our group looked at me and asked the question I didn't want to hear -

"How did you become homeless?"

By now most people have heard my story of being on the streets of Dallas in the late 1970s and struggling in poverty in Houston for many years after that. Some of it is explained in my new audioprogram, The Awakening Course.

But I had never explained exactly how I ended up in such dire circumstances.

When I answered the question at dinner, everyone at the table stared at me.

The woman who asked the question sat there with her mouth open and eyes un-blinking.

She asked, "Why have you never said this before?"

My friend Mark Ryan was sitting there, also staring, and said, "As long as I've known you, you've never told this story before. It's riveting. This changes everything."

Changes everything?

Riveting?

They all said I had to tell the story now.

"Given the current financial crisis and with people losing their homes and their jobs, this story needs to be told more than ever before," Mark said.

I heard them and realized I agreed.

So here's the story...

I knew I wanted to be an author when I was a teenager. I wanted to write books and plays that made people happy. Everywhere I looked I saw un-happy people. I believed I could help them with humor and stories.

During that time of the mid-1970s, I watched sports. I don't today but back then the Dallas Cowboys were the rage. Roger Staubach and Tom Landry were heroes. I got caught up in the excitement and felt the place for me to make my name was in Dallas, Texas.

I lived in Ohio at the time. Born and raised there. I worked on the railroad as a trackman, doing heavy labor all day long, working weekends and summers since the age of five.

I saved my money, packed up my bag, and took a bus to Dallas. It took three days to get there.

I was lost in the big city, of course. Being born in a small town in Ohio didn't prep me for the hustle and bustle of a city the size of Dallas.

Before long, I wanted out.

But I still wanted to be an author.

At that time major companies were building oil and gas pipelines in Alaska and the Middle East, and offering to pay big bucks if you were willing to go to either place.

I wasn't keen on going to a foreign country and doing more labor, but I saw a chance to make money, save it, and then go on a sabbatical where I could write for a few months or even a year.

It seemed like a brilliant strategy.

I answered one of the newspaper ads that promised to get me pipeline work at a extraordinary hourly wage. I went in their office, met an upbeat sales person, and ended up giving him all of my money - my entire savings, about a thousand dollars at the time - based on his promise that I'd have overseas pipeline work in a week or two.

You might guess part of what happened next - but you won't guess all of it.

Within a week or so, the company that took all of my money went out of business.

Their doors were closed, no one answered the phone, and no forwarding addresses could be found.

Shortly after that, the company went bankrupt.

And not long after that, the owner of the company committed suicide.

There was no one left to try to get my money back.

I was alone.

I was broke.

I was in Dallas, far from home.

I confess that my ego got in the way here. My family back in Ohio would have taken me back in and welcomed me back home. But I was head strong and determined to somehow survive.

Well, I did survive - by sleeping in church pews, on the steps of a post office, in a bus station.

It wasn't an easy time, as you can imagine, and I never used to talk about it. It was too embarrassing.

When I told this story at dinner, everyone agreed I had to share it with you.

They said that people are finding themselves in the same situation - they trusted a government, or a corporation, or a person, or a bank, and now they are losing their homes and their jobs.

Hearing that I went through the same thing three decades ago and not only survived but prospered to a level that the Joe Vitale of thirty years ago could hardly imagine, ought to be inspiring to you, too.

I got off the streets and out of poverty by constantly working on myself - reading self-help books, taking action, scrambling at times by taking whatever work I could find, but always always always focusing on my vision: to one day be an author of books that helped people be happy and stay inspired.

If you're in a place right now that doesn't feel so good or seem too safe, I urge you to remind yourself that this is only temporary.

This is the cure for despair.

As I say in my book, The Attractor Factor, this is simply current reality, and current reality can change.

You can help it along by doing what you know and need to do.

But remember, the sun will shine again.

It always does.

Your job right now is to focus on what you want and keep it in sight.

Yes, keep taking action;

yes, stay positive and surround yourself with positive people;

yes, be of support to others.

But remember, if I or anyone else can survive homelessness, poverty, job loss, or any other hard time, then you can survive it, too.

Please hang in there.

One last thing:

I admit that there were times I wanted to throw in the towel and get myself out of this life.

Thank God I stuck around. Had I left early, I would have missed a life of magic and wonder, success and fame I never dreamed of before, priceless relationships and experiences, and more.

I have no idea what wonderful good is headed your way - and neither do you.

What you have to do is stay the course and follow your heart.
